Curling is a fun and social sport based around a very simple activity and the ideals of sportsman and sportswomanship.
To play one must simply slide a stone down a sheet of ice and have it stop as near the center of a set of rings (called the house). Now the opposing team will attempt to keep you from achieving this goal and here is where the lifetime of fun and challenge comes in.
For most curlers this is a game of fun and commradery. The social time after the game is as important as the playing of the game itself - for many this is what the game is all about - who could ask for more!
As your experience grows you may be drawn to more competitve situations - the opportunity to play in tournaments called bonspiels is available to those that choose - both at our club and at many out-of-town events. While the Midwest is the heart of curling in the U.S. - you can travel from Boston to Los Angeles to play.
The game at any level contains elements of great skill, strategy, finesse, exertion and good fortune. We promise you if you believe going in that it is a slow-paced game - prepare to be surprised.
